Aim
WHO looks forward to building Action:SDH with individuals, networks and organizations who have already contributed towards the idea of Action:SDH, as well as with additional new partners. Individuals can contribute in several ways, including through their involvement as active users of Action:SDH, or as invited expert commentators on specific SDH topics.
Potential institutional partners
Initial list
The initial list includes institutions with whom WHO has discussed Action:SDH prior to the launch is listed here.
As further expressions of interest are received, the names of networks or institutions will be listed here. (The names of specific individuals will not be listed). During the course of 2012, following the identification of an internal planning process for the Global Action Plan for Social Determinants of Health in follow-up to the World Conference on Social Determinants of Health, WHO will seek to engage different institutions in Action:SDH more systematically.
Acknowledgement of contributions
The development was made possible through the financial support of three governments in particular: the United Kingdom, Spain and Brazil.
WHO aims to develop the site as a partnership with several other institutions. To this end, we invite interested parties wishing to contribute to the maintenance and development of specific components of the site and its function within the community, to please contact WHO at actionSDH@who.int.
WHO is grateful for the inputs received from the following technical reference groups on SDH who contributed to the development of the idea of Action:SDH:
- Consultation on Support to Countries for Action on the Social Determinants of Health to improve Health Equity (June 2008);
- Intersectoral Action and Health in All Policies Guidance Development Workshops (August 2009);
- Meeting on Intersectoral Action to Address the Social Determinants of Health and the Role of Evaluation (January 2010);
- WHO Headquarters Reference Group for elaborating WHO Guidance on Intersectoral Action and Health in all Policies (2010-present);
- Health in All Policies International Meeting, Adelaide (April 2010).
In addition, special thanks are extended to the Government of South Australia, who seconded Danny Broderick to WHO to support development of tools to support health-in-all-policies and who contributed to the development of the structure of the site, together with external consultants: Kirsten Havemann, Erica Ison, Rene Loewenson, and Orielle Solar. A special thanks also to Health Action Partnership International (HAPI) and Eurohealthnet for participating in early discussions on the viability of the platform.
